Welcome to Beautifully Broken Issue 13. The theme of this issue is displacement and homelessness.
In our Broken World segment we try to understand the current global homelessness crisis and what can be done to alleviate it before things get much, much worse.
In Practical Enlightenment I've shared the story of one finger zen and offer some insights into real versus fake enlightenment and perception.
In the latest installment in the fictional modern haibun Into The Labyrinth, our protagonist arrives at a city where the sport of the rich is to play a game where they acquire as many houses as possible without any thought to the plight of the people they displace as part of the process.
For Footprints In The Sand (which features inspirational art or writing by a deceased artist or writer) we ask how important it is to know the pedigree of information that we come across or if creating too many filters to the world creates an impediment to enlightenment and this week's Reportage Haiku takes us to the streets of London to find love and spirituality.
Between moving house, a visit to hospital and my oldest son studying for his final high school exams I’ve fallen a little behind in my production on Beautifully Broken, so rather than compromise the quality of the work, I’ll be pausing subscriptions for one month to recalibrate, work on the new format with additional content from different sources and will see you again starting the first week of June.
Have a great weekend and Happy May Day!
