Light path falls upon
shadow maze, walk fast to the
center and escape.
Little moments of enlightenment hit us at various points in life. We never know when they're going to come about, what's going to trigger them. A series of words, an alignment of moods, unexpected news. I think if you ponder your past you'll find there are little oases of light, moments of clarity, focus and happiness that stand out. Once I had an experience of total wellbeing and perspective while sitting on a couch relaxing and listening to music. It can happen as part of a big life event or just sitting around watching paint dry. The light can break in unexpectedly, little cracks in the shell of ego and distraction that normally shield us from a greater reality. When it does, it's important to acknowledge it.
Something has changed, a connection has been made.
Honor this moment of clear seeing.
As it fades and you fall back into normal life, you'll have a moment, as your day-to-day consciousness reestablishes itself, when you can see clearly the things that are key distractions that disconnect you. Sometimes they can't be avoided, we have responsibilities we must honor, but the way we undertake them can make the difference between greater or lesser disconnection from the greater reality, the greater perspective.
Try to keep coming back to that moment, recall it, sit with the memory and use it as an anchor to try and recapture that feeling of connection and perspective.
Such experiences are little holes in the wall of the labyrinth of material existence. Through the holes we can catch a glimpse of the light that sustains us and all creation.
Every day that you meditate or practice contemplation, you relax and gradually reconnect to the light. Then one day, all at once, you'll find yourself free and faced with the realization that there was no labyrinth at all.
Once a prisoner of your own thoughts, now free to roam at will.
Happy Wednesday! Bon Mercredi!
