It's 8:30am and I'm sitting in the Nice airport writing today's Daily Enlightenment post. I fly quite a bit but I'm also of Scottish extraction and dislike wasting money on member's lounges so I've become quite good a finding quiet places in busy airports. Nature always seeks balance, wherever there is a crowd you can hunt around and quite often find a secret, quiet place to escape the madness. Above me right now are a couple of hundred people anxiously waiting to board planes to London, Marrakesh, Budapest. One level below I am alone with a halfway decent Lavazza coffee machine, in silence, with a clean bathroom to myself.
If one can't find an empty space in the immediate environment, we must turn inside to find the same space. I wrote a Practical Enlightenment feature article about that titled The Enlightenment Tapes (Divine Listening with Haruki Murakami and the Buddha).
No matter how busy things get you can turn the mind inwards with a few easy techniques and have the feeling inside that you can see depicted in the empty airport area above.
See you on the other side in London :)
Happy Enlightened Wednesday!
