Warm winter angel,
with beautiful broken feet, -
smile and rest in-piece.
Walking through the Catholic cemetery at Kensal Green this morning, I came across this grave statue.
Broken at the feet some time ago (judging by the weathering of the ankles), it rests atop the grave of a young woman named Angela.
Did the statue fall and land that way? Or did someone pick it up and place it in that position?
The statue, threatening to be overrun by grass has a serene, almost thankful quality.
The stone feet, standing alone, draw attention to their beauty in a way they never would if the statue was whole.
I found the scene quite moving and felt obliged to share.
Bon Dimanche! Happy Sunday!
